UWI Open Campus looking to address $$ woes

Education Minister Dr Nyan Gadsby Dolly says the UWI Open Campus is looking to implement measures to help address its financial difficulties.

She told the Parliament yesterday that the Campus gets 35% of its revenue from contributing governments and 65% from tuition fees and entrepreneurial activity.

However, she said the Campus does not generate enough revenue via tuition and has been surviving on loan assistance from other campuses, loans from financial institutions, limited grant funding, and its own revenue generating projects.

According to the Minister, one measure being taken is a transformation of the Campus’s operational model.

The Minister said an effort is also being made to reduce the Campus’ operating costs.
