The University of the West Indies is mourning the death of Marcia Erskine.

A Trinidadian-born UWI alumna and public relations maven, Ms Erskine was the managing director of her Kingston-based agency, Marcia Erskine and Associates, and a communication consultant to The UWI Office of the Vice-Chancellor.

She was an award-winning communicator for over 30 years, and had a distinguished career in both journalism and public relations in the private and public sectors.

UWI Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles said “Marcia was the consummate professional who accomplished all that she did with grace, charm, efficiency, and seeming effortless ease. She was cherished by us all here at The UWI Regional Headquarters, and across the campuses. Marcia Erskine certainly left a distinct mark on both her profession and the institutions with which she collaborated. Her professionalism was exceptional, and her unique flair greatly enriched all that she undertook. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.”
