Storm-related deaths have gone past 100 across the US Southeast following the passage of Hurricane Helene.

Helene made landfall in Florida as a powerful hurricane on Thursday, before moving on to Georgia.

Then, as a tropical storm, it caused fatalities and destruction in the Carolinas, Tennessee and Virginia.

The search for survivors is ongoing and federal emergencies have been declared in six states, including Florida and Georgia.

According to BBC News, the damage from the storm is estimated to be between US$95bn and US$110bn nationwide.
