The US Secretary of State has announced more support for Haiti on a visit to the country which has been plagued by gang violence.
Antony Blinken arrived in Port-au-Prince on Thursday, where he met with interim Prime Minister Garry Conille.
In updates to his Instagram account, Blinken said meetings were set up with Haitian leaders to discuss the next steps in the democratic transition.
He met with the Haitian Transitional Presidential Council head, Edgard Leblanc Fils, to talk about critical work being done to advance election preparations.
Blinken ended the day with a visit to the Multinational Security Support mission’s facilities and saw the new equipment and resources expected to help scale up activities.
