The United States has maintained a “Level 3 Travel Advisory” for Trinidad and Tobago, which advises its citizens to reconsider travel to the country.
Issued on May 7th 2025, it noted an end to the State of Emergency on April 13th.
However, it continues to warn of a heightened risk of terrorism and kidnapping, and the increase in violent crimes such as murder, sexual assault, home invasions and robbery.
It also listed areas where US government employees working in T&T are prohibited from travelling, including Laventille, Downtown Port of Spain, Beetham and Sea Lots.
The US State department’s “travel warnings” are split into four categories, with the fourth category being the most severe.
