The first air drop of aid for Gaza by the United States has been carried out.

BBC News reports that more than 30,000 meals were parachuted into the area by three C-130 military transport planes.

According to the BBC’s partner CBS, this drop was “the first of many.”

US President Joe Biden promised to step up aid to the territory following the death of more than 100 people seeking aid from a convoy on Thursday.
