The UN Security Council is expected to meet today on the Guyana/Venezuela border dispute.
According to Stabroek News, Guyana will ask the council to consider Venezuela’s breach of its obligations and planned actions regarding the Essequibo region.
The news agency reports that CARICOM will also hold an emergency meeting today to discuss the situation.
Meanwhile, the Organisation of American States expressed disapproval over Venezuela’s actions and supported a request for a meeting of the Permanent Council to discuss the matter.
