The UNC’s candidate for Aranguez/St Joseph says sport is an important avenue to help the nation’s youth.

He adds however that other initiatives are still needed, especially to ensure they are able to generate incomes.

Devesh Maharaj spoke with 103.1FM today.

Mr Maharaj also spoke on concerns from constituents that politicians are only seen during election time.

He says if he is elected MP, he will make himself accessible by possibly having more than one office.

Aranguez/St Joseph is currently held by the PNM’s Terrence Deyalsingh, who is that party’s candidate.

Also contesting this seat is NTA leader Gary Griffith, Anthony Dolland of the Patriotic Front, and Marcus Ramkissoon of Trinidad Humanity Campaign.
