The UNC is continuing its calls to the Regulated Industries Commission to cease any intended increase in electricity rates.
Its latest statement comes after Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales yesterday revealed that details regarding the RIC’s rate review will be made public next week.
The UNC has pointed to the public opposition to the proposed hike and called on the Commission to withhold from recommending any rate increase at this time.
It also called on the RIC to instead urge state institutions with unpaid electricity bills to clear arrears and relieve citizens of the burden of having to pay for inefficiency and mismanagement.
