Four new candidates were named at last evening UNC’s General Election Launch at Naparima College, San Fernando.
They are: Michelle Benjamin for Moruga/Tableland, Khadijah Ameen for St Augustine, Dr Roodal Moonilal for Oropouche East and the Love Movement entity’s Robert Mitchell for Laventille West.
UNC Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar said they intend to roll out the next 21 candidates, every day between now and Nomination Day next week Friday.
Meanwhile, Mrs Persad-Bissessar announced a primary action item for the UNC’s Coalition of Interest, if elected.
She said that it is the party’s priority to settle payments for the families of the divers from the Paria Pipeline Tragedy.

She said the Coalition of Interest would also work to ensure citizens are not exploited via predatory fees and ensured a fair distribution of foreign exchange.
The UNC leader also highlighted the need for greater measures to address bullying in schools, adding that they will work with the police, and ensure schools have a full complement of deans of discipline, security officers and school safety officers.
