A number of UNC Mayors and Regional Corporation Chairmen have accused the Government of failing Municipal bodies.
Among other issues, they say they are being starved of funds and unable to undertake simple tasks, such as patching potholes or purchasing fuel for vehicles.
Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed says crucial posts also remain vacant, forcing some Corporations to share staff.
Mr Mohammed was one speaker at a media conference held yesterday involving UNC Mayors and Regional Corporation Chairmen.
Also present was St Augustine MP Khadijah Ameen, who questioned the status of Government’s promise to effect Local Government reform.
She accused the Government of using the issue to campaign for elections, instead of truly committing to the matter.
