UNC leader remembers late Judge Tiwary-Reddy

The UNC leader says the late former Judge Amrika Tiwary-Reddy will be remembered as one of Trinidad and Tobago’s brilliant legal minds and a pioneering woman in the legal fraternity.

The 78-year-old died on Saturday, and will be laid to rest on Tuesday.

Tiwary-Reddy was also a former NAR Senator, and was this country’s youngest-ever principal when she was so appointed to Lakshmi Girls College at the tender age of 18.

She went on to study law and became an attorney in the 1960s, at a time when few women were employed locally and regionally in this profession.

Mrs. Kamla Persad Bissessar says she also distinguished herself tremendously in the law career, demonstrating a deep, patriotic love for her country.
