UNC Leader marks party’s 36th Anniversary

UNC Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar says the UNC has grown from a group of political outcasts in a muddy field in Aranguez, to one of the nation’s and Caribbean’s most powerful political entities.

She adds that “the wonderful coincidence” of regaining Government on its anniversary fills their hearts with gratitude, humility, and renewed purpose.

In her message to mark the UNC’s 36th Anniversary today, Mrs Persad-Bissessar said the late Basdeo Panday received a mandate in 1989, leading to the formation of the party.

Since then, she says there has been a remarkable political and social journey that continues to shape and positively impact lives.

She also vowed to achieve a nation of progress, unity and true equality and justice for all.
