UNC Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is calling on government to offer better salaries and benefits for law enforcement officers.

Speaking at a meeting in Penal last night, she said the four percent wage increase accepted earlier this year is a “wicked insult.”

Additionally, Mrs Persad-Bissessar called for all law enforcement officers to have legal firearms when off-duty and other benefits.

Mrs Persad-Bissessar also used last night’s platform to defend her party’s intention to make it easier for civilians to get firearm user licences.
