The UNC is declaring a “landslide victory” in the Quinam/Morne Diablo bye-election.

Its candidate for the poll is Sarah Sookdeo.

The bye-election follows the death of Councillor Diptee Ramnath in December last year.

Speaking a short while ago, UNC Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar said the voter turnout was higher than in the previous election.

The final result is still to be confirmed by the EBC.

The poll is being held after a tie in last year’s Local Government Elections.
