UK PM reveals plans to tighten immigration policies

UK’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer has outlined plans to “tighten” the immigration system, promising a decrease in migration numbers.

Mr Starmar  accused industries being “almost addicted to importing cheap labour” instead of “investing in the skills of people here and want a good job in their community”.

BBC News said the proposed changes include English tests for all visa applicants and their adult dependents.

Under the plans, migrants will have to wait 10 years to apply to settle in the UK, instead of automatically gaining settled status after five years.

The measures aim to reduce legal migration, which makes up the majority of migration to the UK, however it does not include addressing  other ways people arrive in the UK without permission.
