Tyres were burned today along the Chaguanas Main Road in the vicinity of the Market, after an alleged standoff between some street vendors and police.
According to a report by the Trinidad Express, police came to the scene after some vendors chose to sell their goods on the roadway.
The article says the officers left after the goods were removed, but returned and seized a number of items after some vendors came back onto the roadway.
The vendors allegedly become angry and set fires to several old tyres – this was eventually extinguished by officers from the Chaguanas Fire Station.
