One suspect is dead, and two others are in hospital following a shootout with police in Arima early Sunday morning.
The incident began Saturday night around 10 o’clock, when a Honda Fit was stolen at gunpoint in the Western Division.
At about 1:15 a.m., police spotted the stolen vehicle at the Trincity Intersection and gave chase.
The suspects later ditched the car at Reid Lane in Arima, sparking a foot pursuit.
According to police, the suspects opened fire during the chase, and officers returned fire.
Two men were shot—one died at the Mount Hope Hospital, and the other is being treated.
A third suspect, who was shot in the leg, was later found and arrested in Samaroo Village. He was also taken to hospital.
Police recovered two firearms at the scene.
