Two persons have appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with Corruption and Fraud relating to a vehicle transfer.
On April 6th 2022, a woman went to the Licensing Authority in Caroni seeking to transfer a vehicle title from the registered owner to herself.
She submitted two documents: a purchase receipt and a Notice of Change of Ownership form.
These allegedly bore the name of the registered owner, with the transfer facilitated by a male clerk at the Licensing Authority.
It was later found that the registered owner had died about eight months before, and so, the documents presented were deemed to be fraudulent.
Additionally, the vehicle in question was never physically present at the Caroni compound, as is required by law.
Sudesh Radhakissoon was charged with Misbehaviour in Public Office, while Shantie Ramnarine-Parsan was charged with two counts of Uttering Forged Documents.
Both appeared before Master Sarah De Silva in the High Court yesterday.
Radhakissoon was granted $100,000 bail while Ramnarine-Parsan was granted $200,000 bail.
The Sufficiency Hearing date was set for January 31st 2025.
