Two employees at the Caroni Licensing Office have been charged following an investigation involving the Fraud Squad and Transport Commissioner Clive Clarke.
49-year-old Errol Supersad, a motor vehicle Inspector I, and 27-year-old Sudesh Radhakissoon, a Temporary Clerk I, were both charged with misbehaviour in public office.
A third suspect, 51-year-old Adrian Mohammed was charged with two counts of uttering forged documents.
Supersad and Radhakissoon were each granted $100,000 bail by a Justice of the Peace, while Mohammed was granted $120,000 bail.
In June 2022, a victim told police that after going to the Licensing Office at Wrightson Road to verify some information on his vehicle, he was told it had been transferred to someone else.
The victim denied selling or transferring the vehicle, and an investigation revealed that the three suspects allegedly forged transfer forms and other supporting documents.
The accused will appear in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court on October 24th, 2023.
The Transport Commissioner says this is among many investigations to tackle corrupt practices within the Licensing Division.
