Tunapuna Chamber – budget should address crime and growing the economy

The Greater Tunapuna Chamber of Industry and Commerce is anticipating a budget to address crime and boost T&T’s economy.

In its 2024 budget wish list, the Chamber has identified five focus areas – Innovation, Finance, VAT Returns, Agriculture and Crime.

Concerning crime, it says it piloted an SOS system in Tunapuna, which has yielded positive results.

Chamber President Ramon Gregorio spoke with 103.1FM News.

Mr Gregorio believes the budget should also include tax incentives for the private sector to adopt similar programmes in other areas.

The Chamber also sees SMEs as important contributors to the economy, and says more measures are needed to help them grow.

For agriculture, the Chamber wants to see incentives for the private sector to implement community farming projects.
