TTUTA wants answers regarding outstanding back-pay payments

TTUTA has condemned what it says is a lack of response from the Education Ministry regarding the payment of back-pay to teachers.

The Union says there has been no response to calls and messages to Ministry officials including the Chief Education Officer, Deputy Permanent Secretary and Permanent Secretary.

It adds that correspondence was also sent requesting time-frames for the completion of the back-pay payments, with no responses forthcoming in that regard either.

TTUTA says members listed in the Third Schedule of the Education Act, for whom TTUTA has Appropriate Recognized Association status, have also been made to suffer as they have not received their back-pay ,nor have any instructions been given for new salaries or new allowances to be paid to them.

It says the Ministry has also not made any statement regarding retirees and members not in active service, with a previous circular speaking only to teachers in active service.

It is now demanding an answer from the Ministry and Minister.
