T&T’s environmental damage a pressing issue

The environmental damage caused by plastics washing up on beaches in Trinidad and Tobago is a pressing issue.

As people fail to carry garbage bags and dispose of their waste properly, these beautiful coastal areas are being polluted. Plastic waste poses a severe threat to marine life, with turtles often getting entangled in discarded fishing nets and other plastic debris. This not only harms the turtles but disrupts the fragile coastal ecosystem.

Additionally, plastics on beaches can take hundreds of years to break down, causing long-term harm to the environment. To combat this problem, it’s crucial for individuals to take responsibility for their waste, carry garbage bags to the beaches, and engage in responsible disposal practices. Community awareness and education are key to preserving the natural beauty of Trinidad and Tobago’s coastlines.
