T&T’s CPI score drops

T&T’s score on 2024 Corruption Perception Index has dropped.

Compiled by Transparency International, the CPI measures how corrupt each country’s public sector is perceived to be, according to experts and businesspeople.

A scale of 0-100 is used, with 0 meaning highly corrupt and 100 meaning very clean.

In the latest report released this week, T&T’s score dropped by one to 41, leaving it tied at 82nd in the world.

Denmark is the #1 ranked country, with a CPI score of 90.

Transparency International says while 32 countries have significantly reduced their corruption levels since 2012, 148 have stayed stagnant or gotten worse during the same period.

It adds that the global average of 43 has stood still for years, with over two-thirds of countries scoring below 50.

Between 2012 and now, T&T’s scores ranging from 35 to 42 over the period.
