T&T 100m sprinter Devin Augustine has missed out on the semi-final of his event at the 2024 Olympics.
Augustine put in a time of 10.31 to place 5th in his heat, with Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala, Italy’s Chituru Ali and Germany’s Joshua Hartmann in the top three, nabbing the automatic qualifying spots from heat two.
His time was also not fast enough to grab one of the three fastest times outside the automatic qualifiers, meaning he did not advance to the semis.
Overall, Augustine ran the 47th fastest time of the heats out of field of 69 eligible athletes – there were two false starts and one “did not start.”
USA duo of Kenneth Bednarek and Fred Kerley had the fastest times of the heats, both running 9.97.
Up next for Team TTO is the Women’s 100M semi-final, around 1:50pm today T&T time, where Leah Bertrand will be vying for a spot in an Olympics final.
