TTPS responds to video involving police vehicle

The TTPS has issued a statement responding to a video which shows a marked police vehicle dropping off two men who would later draw firearms.

The video bearing the date June 26th 2024, shows the men emerging from the vehicle along Coora Road in Siparia shortly before 2am.

It skips ahead to show them holding guns as they crossed the road.

The TTPS says following the airing of the video, an investigation was launched, which determined that the officer was not involved in any collusion or criminal activity, and was simply assisting what appeared to be stranded individuals.

It adds that the suspects shown in the video were in fact held along High Street, Siparia that day.

According to the TTPS, 24-year-old Avinash Allahar was charged with Possession of a Firearm and was fined $8,000.

The other suspect, an 18-year-old, was found in possession of an imitation firearm and was released following a review of the case by senior officers.
