TTPOST’s Management has rejected a proposal for a 24% salary increase as being “unfeasible”.
The figure was put forward by the T&T Postal Workers’ Union for salary adjustments and cost items for employees in Bargaining Units 1 and 3 for the periods 2014-2016 and 2017-2019.
It is in stark contrast to TTPOST’s offer of 4%, and higher than the union’s own initial demand of 18.6%.
In a statement, the postal company criticized the counteroffer as a “deliberate delay tactic” aimed at advancing the personal agendas of the union’s executive to the detriment of the expectations of the employees.
TTPOST’s Management also believes 24% is an unrealistic submission that ignores the “harsh realities of the current socioeconomic climate in the postal industry”.
