The Met Service is again reminding persons that T&T is into the second peak of the local heat season.
In a recent statement shared on social media, it says the local heat season is defined by the period with the highest frequency of hot days, which are days when the maximum temperature reaches or exceeds 34°C.
Typically, T&T’s heat season occurs from March to October.
The TTMS says the hottest weather and the most excessive heat occurs in the periods April to May and August to October, which are the peaks of the local heat season.
When faced with sweltering temperatures, the Health Ministry has recommended measures such as:
• Proper hydration
• Using hats and umbrellas while working outdoors
• Avoiding strenuous exercise during the hottest times of the day
Persons are also urged to check on family members, particularly the elderly and children.
