TTMS – Hurricane Tammy will not directly impact T&T

Tammy is now a hurricane and moving closer to the Leeward Islands, however it will not directly impact Trinidad and Tobago.

Instead, the TTMS says it could indirectly influence our weather over the weekend.

Meteorologist Gary Benjamin told 103.1FM News that from today until Sunday, the system can affect T&T’s windflow and other conditions.

 

There are currently no alerts, watches or warnings in effect for this country.

Hurricane Tammy is carrying maximum sustained winds near 120 km/h with higher gusts.

On the forecast track, it will move near or over portions of the Leeward Islands tonight and Saturday, and then move north of the northern Leeward Islands on Sunday.

Several Caribbean countries have warnings and watches in effect.
