TTMS forecasts increase in Saharan dust this week

The Met Service says there could be an increase in Saharan dust later this week.

Dust concentrations are currently mild and occasionally moderate, however the TTMS says over the next couple days, it will waver between mild and moderate.

By Wednesday evening, there is expected to be an increase to moderate and at times high concentrations, which should last until early Friday morning.

After this, the TTMS says the Saharan dust concentration should again become moderate to mild.

Sensitive persons are advised to continue to take the necessary precautions.

Meanwhile the TTMS says an increase in the near surface to mid-level wind speed is expected, mostly on Wednesday and Thursday.

This can translate downward to the surface, at times, and produce windy or gusty conditions, especially in elevated areas or in the vicinity of any shower that might occur.

It says with some breezy to windy periods likely, there is a possibility for this to create choppy sea surfaces at times, especially on Wednesday and Thursday.
