Fire officers are investigating a possible arson in Cocoyea, San Fernando.

Around 1:53am today, the Mon Repos Fire Station received a call about a blaze at a single storey house on Scotland Drive.

Responding officers were able to contain the fire to the bedroom and living room, preventing any further damage.

The structure was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

According to the Fire Service, preliminary investigations have revealed signs of forced entry and a strong smell of kerosene in the affected areas.

The TTFS Fire Prevention Team and members of the TTPS are to return to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
