T&TEC customers in Trinidad are not likely to be affected by Trinidad Generation Unlimited’s total plant shutdown, carded to begin on Saturday night.

Critical works are being done at the Independent Power Producer’s plant from 10pm, to 9am on Sunday.

T&TEC says two other power producers, PowerGen and Contour Global Trinity Power, will supply enough capacity to power the island.

It says in the unlikely event that one of these producers suffers any loss of generation during the TGU shutdown, it may have to shed load, leading to a temporary loss of electricity to some customers.

It adds however that it will work closely with TGU and the other power producers to ensure any disruptions are minimal.
