T&TEC says the OWTU has given an undertaking via the court to ask its members not to engage in any industrial action.

It issued a media release after the union released a statement saying the power company had failed to get an injunction against it.

The union says workers have been picketing outside working hours and during their lunchtime, meaning their protests did not affect T&TEC’s operations.

It adds that it had already been advising workers not to initiate or partake in any industrial action, and to report for duty as required.

T&TEC notes that the undertaking given by the union in court has the same effect as an injunction, as it comes with legal consequences.

Its application for injunctive relief was adjourned to November 11th, 2024.
