T&TEC: Contractors seen in video went to the wrong house

T&TEC has confirmed that contracted employees captured on video being refused entry to a property, had visited the wrong house.

The video, which has been circulated online, shows two men allegedly attempting to gain forced entry after the homeowner refused to open the gate.

T&TEC says, due to an error in directions, the contractors visited the wrong house on the opposite side of the street.

The Commission is commending the homeowner for calling the company to verify if employees were scheduled to visit their home.

The company says it does, on occasion, carry out checks of meters and needs to access customers’ properties to do so.

However, T&TEC says it is aware that criminals impersonate legitimate companies as cover for unlawful activity.

It says if homeowners are in doubt, they should call T&TEC’s security department according to their area.
