Two T&T writers have earned recognition in the Caribbean Magazine Plus Poetry Contest 2023.

First place went to Sigmund Griffith from Saint Lucia with his entry, “Caribbean Cry.”

Second was Sheba Sookoo from T&T by way of Aruba, whose entry was titled “The Dreamer”, while third place went to Shane Jitta, also from T&T, with his entry, “The Zemis”.

Ms Sookoo says while she did some poetry before when in Trinidad with the Poet Society of T&T, this is her first poem “in maybe 12 or 13 years.”

As for Mr Jitta, this was his first time entering a poetry contest and he says he is happy that his “somewhat epic poem” was appreciated.

A virtual Awards Ceremony was held on October 7th 2023.
