T&T, Ghana seek to strengthen ties

Ghana’s Paramount Chief, Nana Otuo Siriboe Juaben Hene says two issues must be resolved for his country to strengthen its relationship with T&T and the Caribbean.

During the 21st annual Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Symposium yesterday, he highlighted the need for a better airfare to Ghana, noting that the current air route to T&T requires too many stops and connecting flights.

He said several trade barriers are also affecting African countries, with regard to improving business linkages with other nations.

Also at the symposium was Trade Minister Paula Gopee Scoon, who noted the importance of CARICOM in fostering trade relations with Africa.

The Paramount Chief also called for a Centre for Diaspora to be established between universities in T&T and Ghana, to foster cultural and educational exchanges and research.

At the event, he was representing His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu the second, who will participate in Emancipation celebrations today and is leaving the country on Saturday August 5th.
