Four secondary school students and three Chemistry mentors from UWI, St Augustine, went to Switzerland last month for the 55th International Chemistry Olympiad in Zurich.

The delegation comprised of Fazeel Ali, Raymond Liu, and Saiesh Rampersad, all from Presentation College, Chaguanas, and Jaron Mohammed from Couva East Secondary School.

At the local phase of the competition, Fazeel Ali was awarded the title of Top Senior Chemist, while another student Kashveer Sookoor of Naparima College was declared the Top Junior Chemist 2023.

UWI Deputy Dean of the Science and Technology Faculty, Dr Terry Mohammed said the delegation’s presence at the Olympiad positions T&T as the first CARICOM country to participate.
