TSTT issues updated statement on customer data

TSTT has issued an updated statement on customer data following a recent cyber attack.

Initially, the company said there was no compromise of customer data but added that it had not corroborated information in the public domain purported to be customer information.

In a release this morning, TSTT said it has been working with international experts to examine data published on the dark web.

The company noted that the 6GB of data accessed was largely identifying information including first names, last names, email addresses, home addresses, ID scans of a limited amount, some customer account information, letters of authorisation and payment receipts.

TSTT insisted that the data did not include call records, transaction data, customer passwords, credit card information or financial information.

The company said security analysts have advised that there is no elevated risk of fraudulent activity for the group of customers impacted.

It noted that the data accessed by the cyber attackers represents less than 1% of the data TSTT produces and stores, and included legacy data which, in many instances, is no longer valid.

The company added that claims that its data centre was breached, with corporate client data or credentials being accessed, are inaccurate.

Earlier today, Princes MP Barry Padarath called on TSTT to clear the air regarding the incident and subsequent claims.
