Tropical Depression Thirteen forms in the Atlantic

Tropical Depression Thirteen has formed in the Central Tropical Atlantic.

According to the National Hurricane Centre, this Depression is forecast to be a hurricane in a couple of days and could become a major hurricane by the end of the week.

The system’s projected path is well north of T&T, however interests in the Leeward Islands are being advised to monitor its progress.

TTMS Meteorologist Gary Benjamin says while it will not have a direct impact on this country, it could cause instability in the atmosphere later this week.

As a result, Friday and Saturday are forecast to be mostly fair with partly cloudy patches and a chance of isolated thunderstorms near hilly areas.

Mr Benjamin says when the system is within 2,000 kilometres of the Windward Islands, the TTMS will release an update on any changes to local conditions.
