A tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form in the Atlantic this weekend, as it approaches the Caribbean.

The National Hurricane Centre this morning said the tropical wave, located at this time in the Central Atlantic, is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

And, it says further development of this system is anticipated.

The NHC put a 70 per cent likely chance of development within 7 days, and 40 per cent chance within two days.

The T&T Met Service said yesterday it was tracking this ‘strong tropical wave’, which was likely to bring associated weather by early Monday.
