A tropical depression could form in the Atlantic early next week.

According to the National Hurricane Centre, showers and thunderstorm activity associated with a tropical wave are currently located midway between the Cabo Verde Islands and the Lesser Antilles.

It says this activity has increased since yesterday, with conditions expected to be favorable for additional gradual development of this system during the next few days,.

It says a tropical depression could form early next week while the system moves generally west-northwestward over the Atlantic.

The NHC’s forecast track has this system passing to the east of the region.
