Transport provided for CAPE students in flood affected areas

In the midst of widespread flooding in parts of Central Trinidad today, a number of students still braved the situation to sit their CAPE Exams.

In a statement, the Local Government Ministry says it collaborated with key stakeholders, to facilitate transport for the Form 6 students, and will do the same tomorrow.

It says the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation provided transport to safely convey students from Las Lomas to the Chaguanas Secondary School.

Meanwhile, the Corporation’s Municipal Police provided dedicated escorts for students from Cunupia to Lakshmi Girls’ Hindu College and St. Francois Girls’ College in Port of Spain.

In addition to transport, the Ministry says it also worked closely with the National Schools Dietary Services Limited to redirect meals to the affected regions.

A total of 391 lunches were distributed to ensure continued support for students, communities, emergency response volunteers and staff.
