The topic of food prices and food imports formed part of the budget debate contributions by Trade Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon and Mayaro MP Rushton Paray.

Kicking off the resumption of debate this morning, Minister Gopee-Scoon used her contribution to reveal a drop in volumes of food imports.

Minister Gopee-Scoon also claimed there has been misinformation about food prices over the past two governments.

In response, MP Paray said the reality is that families are struggling with the cost of living.
