Top performing CXC students to receive awards tonight

Fourteen top performing students from this year’s May CXC exams, including some from T&T, will be honoured tonight.

An award ceremony will be held in St Lucia from 7pm where each student will receive a trophy and a monetary or tangible prize from CXC.

Top performers from T&T include:
• Alexei Aqui, St Joseph’s Convent, San Fernando – Most Outstanding Candidate in Environmental Science (CAPE)
• Khadine Rambert, Holy Faith Convent, Penal – Most Outstanding Candidate in Information & Communication Technology (CAPE)
• Charlotte Hadeed of St Joseph’s Convent, Port of Spain – Most Outstanding Candidate in Business Studies (CAPE)
• Nataliah Castillo, St Joseph’s Convent, St Joseph – Most Outstanding Short Story (CSEC)
• Abigail Ramdhanie, Bishop Anstey High School – Most Outstanding Candidate in Visual Arts (2D) (CSEC)
• Rizwana Abdool, A.S.J.A. Girls’ College, San Fernando – Most Outstanding Candidate in Visual Arts (3D) (CSEC)
• Rishav Persad, Naparima College – Most Outstanding Candidate in Principles of Accounts (CSEC)

Special prizes will also be awarded on another date, including the award for Most Outstanding Candidate in CAPE Mathematics to Vishal Pooran, Presentation College; the Eric Williams award for Most Outstanding Candidate in CAPE History to Nicholas Abreu of Fatima College; and the Professor Wilma Bailey award for Most Outstanding Candidate in CSEC Geography to Zaria Ifill, St Joseph’s Convent – San Fernando.

This year’s Most Outstanding Candidates Overall in CAPE and CSEC examinations, Aniyah
Couchman and Dave Chowtie, respectively, both hail from Queen’s College, Guyana.

They will also receive awards for Most Outstanding Performance in Natural Sciences and Humanities.

Aniyah achieved Grade I in 20 subjects and Grade II and Grade III in one subject each, while Dave achieved Grade I in 25 subjects and Grade II in 4 subjects.
