THA Health Secretary Dr. Faith B.Yisrael says while there are no Mpox (monkeypox) cases in Tobago, responses will be ramped up to prevent the spread of the virus to the island.
A statement confirms that a meeting was held this morning with stakeholders of the THA Health Division and the Tobago Regional Health Authority, focusing on case identification, quarantine protocols, treatment, vaccination and education.
Dr B.Yisrael adds at the meeting, various protocols were reviewed and will be updated, to be rolled out for the most effective public health response in Tobago.
Planning for the threat of Mpox began on the island last year when cases had been identified in neighbouring Caribbean countries.
Tobagonians can visit their nearest health centre or call the toll free number 800-HEAL (4325) if they are experiencing fever, rash, sore throat, muscle aches and other associated symptoms, or if they were exposed to someone with Mpox.
