Tobago Oil Spill – air quality near schools meet and surpass recommended safety standards

Air quality in the vicinity of the Scarborough Secondary and Lambeau Primary schools meet and surpass the recommended safety standards.

Air quality monitoring is being done by the EMA in collaboration with the Institute of Marine Affairs, as part of efforts to address the oil spill impacting the island.

The EMA says using automated air monitoring equipment set up at Shaw Park, the O3 Ozone reading registered at 29 on Monday, signifying a favorable condition.

It adds that the as part of a science based approach to addressing the aftermath of the spill, the EMA and the IMA have been entrusted with environmental impact assessments and monitoring, providing crucial scientific data to guide containment and cleanup efforts.
