A Tobago man was granted $70,000 bail after appearing in the High Court on extortion charges.

A man reported to police that during July to November last year, while doing construction at his property in Scarborough, he was approached and threatened several times by a man who demanded money.

The victim paid the man varying amounts of cash on numerous occasions.

52-year-old Gregory Stephen of Hall Trace was subsequently charged with eight counts of demanding money with menaces and robbery.
