Three men have appeared in court following a shootout with police in Sangre Chiquito.
On November 27th, 2024, police on patrol stopped a white van with three male occupants, as well as bulky items concealed in the tray.
Two suspects were apprehended while one ran off into a swampy area where he is alleged to have shot in the officers’ direction, prompting their return of fire.
Police say the suspect threw the gun in the water, was apprehended and taken to hospital for treatment.
33-year-old Israel Phillip of Sangre Chiquito was denied bail on charges of shooting with intent.
33-year-old Marshall Eneau of Arima and 18-year-old Jessie Ramadhin of Sangre Grande were granted bail on charges of receiving stolen items and possession of house breaking implements, respectively.
All three men pleaded not guilty, and the matter will next be heard on January 8th, 2025.
