The University of the West Indies is paying tribute to two of its fallen honorary graduates – Michael Anthony and Dr Elisha Tikasingh.

Mr Anthony, an author known for books like “Green Days by the River” and “The Year in San Fernando” passed away on August 24th, 2023.

He received an honorary Doctorate in 2003 and has been described by the university as having an illustrious career with literary masterpieces.

Meanwhile, Dr Tikasingh passed away on August 31st, 2023 after a life dedicated to science, notably in the fields of entomology, parasitology, and virology.

The university says his research played a crucial role in the initiation of the first island-wide vaccination programme against the yellow fever virus in 1978/79.

He was conferred an honorary Doctorate by The UWI in 2013.
