THA: Pigeon Point and other beaches remain open

Even as efforts continue to contain and clean up an oil spill in Tobago, the THA is reminding that many beaches remain unaffected and open to the public.

In a notice, it says Pigeon Point, Mt Irvine, Buccoo and Store Bay remain open in the south western part of the island, as are Castara, King’s Bay and Charlotteville in north and north eastern Tobago.

The THA says Englishman’s Bay and other remote beaches such as Iguana Bay, Cotton Bay and Pirate’s Bay, also remain unaffected.

As for operations at the Scarborough Port, it says the berthing of cruise ships continue, while inter-island air and ferry services are running as scheduled.

The following image was issued on Friday by TEMA showing the areas affected by the oil-like substance leaking from the overturned vessel off the coast of Cove.
